Welcome to Prep at Osborne.

We have had a busy first semester at school with lots of fun, lots of learning and lots of new friendships in our 4 prep classes and with the Little Ossies too.
Apart from-

· learning how to read and write and
· learning all about numbers, measuring, counting and solving maths problems,
we have also been learning-

· how to get-along and help others,
· how to look after our things,
· how to dance, run, jump and catch,
· how to sing, draw, paint and construct
· how to use the computers for fun, learning and investigations, and…
· how to be responsible and switched on for learning.
We have been able to do lots of wonderful things.

Click on these links below to see a few pictures of some of the things we have been doing at school so far this year. (These will take quite a very long time to open so be patient and maybe play some games or read some stories while you wait.

We have all begun to learn our reading and spelling words from the Magic 100 Words List. The first words are in the golen words list. We are learning how to read and to write the golden, red and blue words. Click on this link to see our word lists and have some fun playing your own games with the words that your child is learning. You can print them off and make card games and bingo games or play hangman or spelling bee. Have fun.

Don't Forget Mathletics.

If you have misplaced your child's user name and password, you will find it stuck on the inside cover of his/her yellow home reading record book.

This term we will be continuing to learn more about our sound/letter relationships and along with the Letterland characters that we know, we will be learning about the characters from Pelican Talk who make the sounds we hear in words and the letter combinations that make them. Already we have been introduced to Rumbling Rudy whose sound can be made in words with the letters r, rr, and wr and Lovely Lara whose sound can be made with l, ll and le in words. We are now meeting Yucky yak whose sound is made with the letter y and Grumpy Mum whose sound is made with the letters u and sometimes o_e. Click on these links to see them.-
